In total, nearly PLN 450 million will be allocated to beneficiaries for projects related to, among other things, environmental and ecological education, the modernisation of water supply networks, rainwater management, the purchase of electric buses, the energy-efficient renovation of public buildings, support for senior citizens and the construction of a modern kindergarten.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">\u201cThis is a great moment for Polish-Swiss friendship, because thanks to Switzerland, as the donor country, we have an opportunity to support the development of these wonderful and beautiful cities,\u201d said Jacek Karnowski, Deputy Minister of Development Funds and Regional Policy.&nbsp;<strong>Jacek Karnowski,<\/strong>&nbsp;wiceminister funduszy i polityki regionalnej.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Under this edition of the Polish-Swiss Cooperation Programme, Switzerland has allocated CHF 320.1 million to Poland, of which CHF 278.7 million has been earmarked for the urban development fund.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph translation-block\">\u201cSwitzerland\u2019s financial support is not merely a transfer of funds. For us, it is also an investment in cooperation, the exchange of experience and mutual learning. Switzerland and Poland both recognise the importance of strong local government and citizen engagement. Through this programme, we are strengthening cooperation between our institutions and communities,\u201d emphasised Fabrice Filliez, Ambassador of Switzerland.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">The main objective of the Polish-Swiss Urban Development Programme is to support medium-sized cities that are losing their socio-economic functions. According to Poland\u2019s National Strategy for Regional Development, there are 139 such cities in the country.
